New recipes for preservation of Lumpfish will be tested by PROFIUS industrial partner Royal Greenland
On April 1st the new lumpfish roe season started in the southern part of Greenland. This year the PROFIUS partner Royal Greenland is testing new recipes, developed as part of PROFIUS-project, for optimizing the preservation of the lumpfish roe in the land-based factories. Royal Greenland has 13 production facilities on the West Coast of Greenland where the lumpfish is processed to make preserved lumpfish roe. The lumpfish roe season in Greenland is MSC-certified and will stop by the end of May in the northern area. The preserved lumpfish roe will be transported on chill storage to the Royal Greenland factory in Cuxhaven to produce pasteurized lumpfish mainly for the European retail market.
