PROFIUS stakeholders’ engagement event in Malta
PROFIUS Maltese partner AquaBioTech Group organised a workshop on Friday, March 1st, to showcase the results of the work to improve the utilization of tuna side-stream. Several stakeholders from private and public sector were involved in the discussion. Maltese project coordinator Dr Simona Paolacci explained to the public the work that AquaBioTech Group, along with the other PROFIUS partner, has been doing to address logistic challenges and improve the utilization of this precious resource. The different ways to utilize different components of the tuna side-stream were scanned together and the participants had a chance to learn about the possible uses, but also to comment and express concerns. The result was a very interesting conversation about reutilization of tuna side-stream and possible solutions to overcome bottlenecks. Enlightening comments and suggestions from fish farmers and representatives of the public sector were given. The outcome of the workshop will be very useful to progress with the work to improve the utilization of this resource and make tuna industry more sustainable. The event was in collaboration with FishEUTrust Malta Living Lab, another project that focuses on #seafood innovations in Malta. The event is part of the AquaBioTech Group’s effort to build a Maltese hub that brings together fish farmers, fishermen, researchers and governance to foster a sustainable and healthy seafood industry.
